The TCO is a collaborative, growing initiative. We welcome partnerships across sectors and disciplines. Here are some of the key groups we work with – and how you can get involved:
Community Organizations and Advocacy Groups
Role: Co-researchers, knowledge partners, and local change-makers
We collaborate with community and advocacy groups to understand place-based climate impacts, gather lived experience data, and co-design solutions. Your work grounds our research in the realities of climate justice, housing, energy, mobility, and health, helping us co-produce knowledge, incorporate diverse ways of knowing, and collaboratively build community-led solutions.
Partner with us on citizen science, oral history, community leadership, or policy-oriented projects.
Municipal Governments and Public Agencies
Role: Data users, policy collaborators, and service providers
Cities are on the frontlines of climate action. We work with municipal teams to collect information on climate data gaps, and improve how local climate data informs planning, communication, and resilience strategies. We hope to contribute to municipalities’ work on public engagement and equitable service design by strengthening data infrastructures and the practices that support them.
Collaborate with us on climate data infrastructure, resilience planning, or public outreach.
Academic Researchers and Scholars
Role: Co-investigators, mentors, and interdisciplinary collaborators
TCO is grounded in interdisciplinary, community-engaged scholarship. We welcome faculty, postdocs, and graduate researchers interested in climate science, science and technology studies, Indigenous studies, design, planning, data justice, and related fields.
Join one of our research projects, co-author publications, or co-supervise student initiatives.
Data Practitioners and Climate Modellers
Role: Infrastructure builders and technical collaborators
We’re building open-source platforms and tools to make local climate data more accessible, usable and actionable. Developers, data scientists, and digital tool designers can support our work by helping create usable, just, and community-informed climate technologies and tools, as well as novel data visualizations to effectively communicate this data. They can also help us bridge the gap between complex models and local decision-making.
Collaborate with us on platform design, data visualization, or tool development.
Youth and Student Leaders
Role: Activators, communicators, and future climate leaders
Youth perspectives are critical to our work. We support student-led research, participatory climate projects, and platforms for youth voices in workshops and public forums. We also offer mentorship and skill-building opportunities, such as through our Toronto Climate Summer School.
Contribute to research, join events, or propose a student partnership project.
